We are the Shank family: Don,
Clarissa, Lane, and Shelby. We are Aussie owned and operated. I have shown
dogs since I was a little girl. I am still showing dogs in conformation,
obedience, and have started to learn elite agility with an Aussie that is dear
to my heart 'Dancer'. Shelby, our daughter, has been a junior handler since she
was two years old. Two years ago, Shelby branched out into herding and is hoping
to trial her own dog this year in started sheep.
When I was seven years old I wanted more dogs. I got on my bicycle and
rode to the water plant, which is were the dog pound was located in my hometown
of Emporia Kansas. It was a Saturday afternoon and the water treatment plant
was open so this enabled me access to were the stray dogs were kept. I broke
all the dogs out of doggie jail. I knew in my heart they wanted out, and wanted
to follow me home. It was a two mile bicycle ride to get home and all the dogs
did follow me. Trying to convince my mother that I just happened to find six
dogs running loose and how lucky I was to find them is another story. So having
lots of dogs has been a plan of mine since childhood!!
I am lucky to own and operate SkyRyder Mobile Grooming. Grooming is
another passion of mine and I enjoy spending time with the dogs and making them
look their best.
We are owned by six Aussies, a Pomeranian, and a Rat Terroris--I mean, Terrier. Our dogs
are our family and we raise our puppies to be family members. Our puppies are
born in the house and remain in our home while they are growing up to be little
people with fur. Socialization is something we take seriously so our puppies
get a good start in life. We have a home environment and our dogs do not live
in kennels. Whether you are looking for a show dog, performance dog, or a
